UPM GRADPACK and MAD Coaching Course

It was yet another exciting day filled with Dodgeball action. This time MAD assisted telco giants TM in organizing a Dodgeball Challenge as part and parcel of their Gradpack highlights.
The day kicked off as early as 7.30am with set-up commencing around Padang Kawad of UPM. It was an early Saturday morning. However that did not deter the 300 strong crowd that showed up to play Dodgeball. Cash prizes were generously sponsored by TM. Together with hampers and goodie bags given out every now and then, it was indeed not to be missed!

The morning kicked off with all the participants gathering up in the court for a short briefing. Lots of teams showed up in full force together along with their fanfare support which was immense.

17 colleges each sent a team or two to participate in the challenge. It was amazing to see so many people turn up together with banners, props, and their chants!! Prizes for fanfare/warcry further heightened the atmosphere.

MAD also implemented the first Coaching Program of 2010. A milestone achievement as MAD will now have its own Coaches to lead and train eager-beavers to the growing sport of Dodgeball.
TM’s Dodgeball Challenge was the perfect opportunity to hone those coaching skills and put what they`ve learnt to good use!



A coach was allocated to each team and the clinics soon began after. Next up was the exhibition match between TM and UPM. UPM was in a fiery mood after their Warcry and proceeded to win their games with TM. They next challenged MAD and MAD took the match from them narrowly.



Lucky draws followed suit with winners taking back a goodie hamper from TM or limited edition TM merchandise. Both of which were too hard to miss. The last man competition was thrown next and it was absolute anarchy with a total of 30 players in the court with 6 balls flying here and there.
The winner walked away with RM50 and the runner up pocketed RM30.




A few more lucky draws were handed out before the first match of the tournament kicked off.
Each team began with their fanfare showcasing their warcry which was evaluated by MAD and the top two each won cash prizes respectively.

Fixtures for Round 4:

1)      10 Star vs 10 Star 2

2)      KTD I vs 10 Star 2

3)      KTD I vs 10 Star



So after an intense all day competition, 10 Star took home the winnings, while KTD I came in a narrow second and 10 Star 2 finished 3rd.

We finally closed the night with a huge thank you to the organizing parties mainly TM and UPM.
The support shown by the students towards the game and competition was truly very humbling.

Matches were played out throughout the day, with the searing heat that left most of us burnt!! And through the rain that left us soaking after!!

And yet the intensity and passion did not stop for one bit. MAD can`t wait to see the formation of the new UPM Dodgeball club and we look forward to their participation in the coming CDL!!
